Renault Trafic Key Fob Review
The Trafic’s strengths include an incrediblely comfortable and car-like experience, as well as a good real-world fuel efficiency. The updated model of 2023 comes with numerous Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
The steering has nice weighting and reactivity, and proved easy to operate when participating in the van’s ‘parking gymnasium challenge (yours truly won, by the way). Also available is a ‘Panic button, which is supposed to dissuade thieves from taking your car.
Hidden Physical Keys
Modern car key fobs have a number of useful functions, including the ability to start and stop the engine from a distance. These hidden features are useful if you need to avoid the rain or if you are in the middle of a rush. However, some of these hidden features can be used by thieves to gain access to your vehicle.
The key fob emits radio frequency (RF) signals which are picked up by a receiver inside the vehicle. The receiver interprets these signals and determines whether the button was pressed, such as to unlock or start the engine.
In a particular mode of learning, a key fob sends the serial number as well as the current synchronization counter whenever the new counter is added to the system. The receiver stores this data in memory and exits learning mode. The key fob uses the decryption keys previously stored and the synchronization counter to authenticate the signal when it is used again.
This security measure is effective in stopping the majority of attacks, but it’s not completely secure. This security feature has been exploited by an advanced attack known as RollJam [17]. In order to be successful the attacker will require future codes that are transmitted via the key fob. Once these codes are acquired, the attacker can perform the replay and gain access to an automobile.
Moving the Car Out of the Spot
One feature that is extremely loved by those who own Renault Trafic is the ability to unlock the hatchback and trunk by pressing a button on their key fob. This is a great feature when they have lots of party or food items in their hands and don’t want to put everything down to open the car.
This is also a great method to prevent thefts from happening in the first place. A simple press of the panic key will frighten off anyone trying to steal your car or break into your home. It will also alert your neighbors. If you’re driving and start feeling unsafe pressing the button immediately will notify nearby drivers that something is wrong.
The key fob may be damaged due to washing or dropping it. Other causes could be a malfunctioning key programmed or an immobilizer malfunction and interference by other wireless devices operating at the same frequency. If you have a faulty module, you should visit an authorized Renault dealer or a mechanic to get assistance. To reset the module, it might be required to replace the fuse or remove the battery for 15 minutes.
Sunroof Opener
The Renault traffic key fobs are equipped with an open/close sunroof feature. This is crucial to ensure an ideal temperature while driving in the summer. This feature allows you to open the sunroof and vent the vehicle. This can help with the flow of air during a sweaty ride.
The console switch is located on the driver’s left side of the hatch. This will open the sunroof to its maximum position or approximately 75%. This is the typical operating position for the majority of cars. Touch OPEN to open the sunroof fully, and CLOSE to close it.
If the sunroof does not function properly, it could be that the micro-switch may be malfunctioning. It can be operated manually to operate the sunroof drive motor long enough to check the current of the motor using an ammeter. The torque of the motor slip clutch can be increased by loosening the adjusting screws and lowered by tightening them. Once the slip clutch is properly adjusted apply heavy-duty Loctite on the locknut on the adjusting screw.
Another issue that could stop your sunroof from raising is a bad Limit Switch 2 or one that has been misadjusted. The lifting arms will retract to the released position to be removed but not to the locked-open position. On 1985.5 and later vehicles the ignition switch should be in the position of the ACCESSORY (2) to operate the sunroof. The sunroof switch console must be moved in the “A” direction to open, and in the “B” direction to close.
